BIO

Nabihah Iqbal is a musician, producer, DJ and broadcaster from London.

2023/24 have been landmark years for Nabihah, having released her sophomore album 'DREAMER' on Ninja Tune to critical acclaim, while touring her live band and DJ performances across the world.

Mixing sounds from dream pop, post punk and electronic music, 'DREAMER' is an intimate journey through snapshots and memories of Nabihah’s life, exploring personal identity and grief. The album has received widespread praise, appearing in numerous ‘Best of 2023’ lists (including The Guardian, KCRW, Rough Trade, Crack, Resident Brighton, Piccadilly Records) while receiving heavy radio play from BBC6 Music (including plays from Mary Anne Hobbs, Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Jamz Supernova, Gilles Peterson), BBC Radio 1 (Benji B), Radio X, NME Radio, NTS amongst others, and press features (including The Guardian, Resident Advisor, Uncut, Dazed, Crack, Loud & Quiet, Future Music, Mojo, Mixmag).

The album’s success has seen Nabihah tour extensively over the past 12-18 months, building her reputation as one of the most compelling live artists around. Highlights include sold-out headline shows across the UK and Europe, including Earth London, ICA London, Le Point Éphémère Paris, Music Box Lisbon, Melkweg Amsterdam, Wintercircus Gent, as well as further afield, with a sold-out Public Records NYC, and full-houses at all six dates of her Australia & New Zealand tour. Nabihah also delivered spellbinding performances at some of the most revered festivals in Europe, including Pukkelpop, Way Out West, Lowlands, Into The Great Wide Open and Pitchfork Berlin.

Aside from writing and performing her own music, Nabihah has hosted a bi-weekly show on NTS Radio since 2013, exploring musical traditions and cultures without boundaries. Nabihah has frequently appeared on the BBC networks since 2018, presenting shows on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, World Service and 6Music. Nabihah is also an in-demand DJ, having spun last year at the likes of Printworks London, O-East Tokyo, Frankhan Istanbul, Lost Village Festival UK, Junction 2 Festival UK, Dark Mofo Hobart, Club 77 Sydney and Blå Oslo.

Interdisciplinary projects form an important part of Nabihah’s work and she has collaborated with Chinese artist Zhang Ding, with Wolfgang Tillmans as part of his Tate Modern exhibition and was recently involved in a group performance at the Barbican as part of its major Basquiat retrospective. Nabihah is also an experienced curator, running her ever-popular ‘Glory to Sound’ events in London, New York and Los Angeles, as well as curating the esteemed Brighton Festival as their Guest Director in 2023.

2024 sees Nabihah continue to tour her music across the globe, with highlights including Glastonbury Festival UK, Festiwal Nowa Muzyka PL, Øya Festival NO, Flow Festival FI, Wilde Weide NL, Pop Messe CZ, Trädgården SE, Green Man Festival UK, We Out Here Festival UK, Treefort Music Fest, along with an unofficial SXSW showcase hosted by Third Man Records & Creem in Austin, Texas. All the while, Nabihah will soon start setting sights towards her much-anticipated future releases.
